Even the best looking or fastest airplane wouldn´t fly without the careful hands of their owner, operator and pilots. They are spending hundreds of hours to restore, maintain and prepare the aircraft we love to see skillfully displayed at airshows or other special events. Pilots may have military or civilian backgrounds but it’s their skill in putting the aircraft in front of the camera in the best way to capture the stunning images that is essential. Safety comes first at every display and pilots invest heavily in training and developing their routines and signature manoeuvers that delight the airshow spectators and photographers alike. Specific ratings and authorizations are needed for each type and class of aircraft the pilot will fly. Whether private or commercial, military or civil, it’s the professionalism and skill of the pilot in putting the aircraft just where and how its presented best that makes for a great photo opportunity.
