Warbirds, typically dating from the late thirties to late forties make up some of the most impressive aircraft to be seen and photographed. Whether it’s the sublime Spitfire or the famous Cadillac of the Skies called P-51D Mustang, the sound of a V12 engine coupled with the speed and grace of these aeroplanes captivates young and old, photographers and dreamers alike. Historically correct cockpits and markings together with superbly maintained engines and systems along with a known provenance make these icons of the skies. The difference between in line v12 engines and big radials creates wonderful opportunities for photographers to highlight the differences in design and fast moving aviation technology that came with the development of these aircraft.
